Kolkatans Go Gung Ho About Paralympics Walk

The Rio Olympics has grasped all the spotlight from the media but there’s no cock- a –doodle- do for the upcoming Paralympics. The mainstream media is strikingly hush as death for the much awaited Rio Paralympics to begin over one month. Civilian Welfare Foundation (CWF), an NGO working on Paralympics for 5 years now conducts an unique walk in Kolkata every year on 28th of August, celebrating the cause of Paralympics and disability sports at large.

The primary agenda of the walk is to make the mass aware of the sports and from the athlete’s perspective, make the sports as much popular as possible. Deepa Malik’s daughter Devika Malik had participated in last Para Walk organized by CWF. Arjuna Award recipient DevendraJhajharia is also going to take part on the game.

Not only is Rio Paralympics being talked about but because of politics and lack of funds two brilliant sports persons SahebHussain&RubiaChatterjee couldn’t participate in Rio or else Bengal also would have been represented at these games. Saheb&Rubia  are world class athletes like the contingent of the 19 that are going but state politics have ruined their career and the opportunity to participate at the highest level.

It’s high time to blow horn for Paralympics with passionate gasconading so that the mass cheers for the Disabled to make their mark on the world map bagging their rights with all glory.
