Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic Leak Reveals New Squircle Design and Third Button

Summary:

Leaked CAD renders offer the first look at the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, highlighting the return of the rotating bezel and a new “squircle” design influenced by the Galaxy Watch Ultra. The smartwatch is expected to launch in a single 47mm size—breaking from previous multi-size options—and feature a 1.5-inch display within a slightly bulkier frame. It may also house a 435mAh battery, slightly larger than its predecessor. Based on Samsung’s typical release cycle, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is likely to debut at the July Unpacked event alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and possibly a new Galaxy Watch Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic Design Leak Hints at Squircle Shape and Extra Button

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic has long been rumored to receive a design overhaul, and now the first glimpse of this potential update has surfaced. Newly leaked CAD renders suggest the smartwatch could adopt a new “squircle” design—blending a circular display with a square casing—similar to the premium Galaxy Watch Ultra. This marks a departure from the traditional circular form of previous Galaxy Watch Classic models.

While the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is expected to retain hallmark features like the rotating bezel, it may also introduce a third physical button, adding possible new functions and improved usability.

Leaked by SammyGuru and OnLeaks

The renders, shared by SammyGuru in collaboration with well-known tipster OnLeaks, show the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic in high-resolution 5K CAD imagery. According to the leak, the smartwatch could measure approximately 46 x 46.5 x 14.2 mm and feature a 1.5-inch display. The overall design closely resembles the Galaxy Watch Ultra, featuring a circular screen housed within a rounded-square—or “squircle”—dial.

In terms of controls, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic reportedly maintains the iconic rotating crown and two traditional side buttons. The big change lies in the addition of a third button positioned between the existing two. This new button could be accented in orange, echoing the design of the Galaxy Watch Ultra’s Quick Button, and is expected to offer customizable shortcuts or enhanced functionality.

While the exact functionality of the new button remains uncertain, it’s speculated that Samsung may implement features similar to the Quick Button found on the Galaxy Watch Ultra. The newly surfaced CAD renders align with earlier leaks from One UI 8 Watch animation files, which hinted at the return of the Classic model with a refreshed squircle design and an additional button.

The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is also expected to adopt the Galaxy Watch Ultra’s enhanced haptic feedback system, featuring extended vibration patterns for a more immersive experience. According to reports, the smartwatch may come in a single 47mm size variant and house a 435mAh battery—potentially offering a typical capacity of 450mAh.

With the launch approaching, more details are likely to emerge in the coming weeks. Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic at its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event this summer, alongside its next-generation foldable smartphones.
