Shiboprasad Mukherjee-Rakhee Gulzar: Tears streamed down her face — what condition did Rakhee Gulzar place before Shiboprosad?

In the film Aamar Boss, she was seen playing the role of Shiboprosad Mukherjee’s mother. Rakhee Gulzar agreed to act in the film on just one condition .

Aamar Boss is currently making waves at the box office. After Bohurupi, Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy have struck gold once again with this film. It tells a heartfelt story of a mother and son. And in a much-anticipated return to the screen, Rakhee Gulzar makes her comeback in this film — her first after Rituparno Ghosh’s Shubho Mahurat.

In Aamar Boss, Rakhee Gulzar was seen playing the role of Shiboprosad Mukherjee’s mother. She agreed to be part of the film on just one condition. And the person who played a key role in connecting Rakhee with Shibu and Nandita was none other than veteran actress Sandhya Roy. It was she who called Shibu and said, “Call Rakhee di — she admires your work.” Following her advice, Shiboprosad reached out to Rakhee. She was full of praise for his film Haami and told him that if there was ever a role like the one played by Aparajita Adhya in that film, she would gladly take it on.

She has always been enthusiastic about working with young children. So, when planning for Aamar Boss began, Shiboprosad and Nandita went straight to her. In an interview, the actor-director recalled, “I remember, I had only shared the basic idea with Rakhee di. She liked it and told me, ‘I want the entire script read out to me.’ And I did exactly that. As soon as I finished reading, I noticed tears in her eyes. I was stunned. After listening to the full script, she said, ‘This is really good.’” Being a Bengali herself, Rakhee appreciated the soul of Shibu’s story — and then, she placed her one and only condition.

After so many years, Rakhee Gulzar was returning to act in a Bengali film. Naturally, she didn’t just focus on her own role — she carefully looked into who else was cast in the supporting characters. She directly asked Shiboprosad Mukherjee, “Who’s playing the son’s role?” Shibu recalls, “At the time, I mentioned the name of an actor. But Rakhee di said, ‘I have just one condition — I’ll do this film only if you play the son.’” Shiboprosad couldn’t say no to the veteran actress. And so, he stepped into the role, portraying a toxic boss on screen. Last year, in Bohurupi, he gave a fresh voice to the figure of a bandit. This time, he’s completely different.

About the movie : A modern family drama unfolds around a unique and heartwarming concept: an office-based old-age crèche started by the boss’s mother. This innovative initiative not only boosts employee productivity but also cultivates a more compassionate and inclusive workplace culture.
